Occupy Together
Occupy Wall Street is a recent protest with no specific leader or organization in charge. Because of this, it is hard to find news on current events in the movement and information on the protest itself. To help improve solidarity among the protesters and prospective protesters, Occupy Together posts news on meetings and discussions. Occupy Together aims to give a more solid substance to the Occupy movement by not leading any protests, but providing an open forum in which protests can be discussed. It also gives a general summary of what the occupy wall street movement is for those unaware of its motive. This allows the occupy wall street movement to have a slighlty more distinquished and acredited image. This movement has tried to keep the direct mode of protest alive by having people once again gather by the masses all in support of a common goal. Does this more traditional form of protests necessarily mean it is better, or is the last final attempt to keep protesting as we know it survive?

Occupy Wall Street is a form of direct activism like what most people think the word "protest" means in action. Unlike Obey Giant which meanders around a meaning and cause to have the viewer or passerby infer it, Occupy Wall Street actually protests for its cause first hand. Occupiers frequently have signs they carry, and they aren't afraid to tell anyone what they are supporting.
This is one of the many posters made to protest the corporate giants.
Either posted on a wall or held on a stick, this image with only four words
carries the meaning of the movement. It cleverly draws off a well known X-Files
image wanting to believe in aliens. The twist is that instead of a UFO, this poster
features the Statue of Liberty, a symbol of supposed American values and freedom.
Just as aliens are not believed to be real, the protesters are saying that American
liberty is fictional. The simple four words and picture represent the style of the
Occupy Wall Street movement: strength but simplicity. The message is put
forth without requiring a long explanation of its meaning; it is implied and meant
to simply state their discontent.

When the Occupy Wall Street movement began in about September
this year, the United States unemployment rate was around 9%.
Many found themselves working a job for which they were overqualified
or not working at all. These people worked to find jobs but were unable
to find any, let alone one that could maintain their standard of living.
Occupy Wall Street blames this fact on the corporate giants who work little
and are paid much. Since they weren't making any progress finding jobs, the
protesters decided instead to fight the problem they saw as the cause:
Wall Street. The witty image to the right demonstrates the course
of said protester. Although this man or woman has lost their job, they still
managed to secure an "occupation". That of occupying Wall Street.
